Habitat:
Dolphin are confusing because the name is give to both a fish and a mammal. The bottle nose porpoise many people think of as a fish is a mammal. We are discussing the fish here, often called Mahi Mahi to avoid hurting people's sensitivities. Dolphin range world wide in semi tropical and tropical waters from Australia to the Bahamas. The Dolphin fish is a pelagic species. It will adventure further north during the summer, but not very far north. They are found in deep offshore waters schools near reefs, floating objects such as buoys, weed, logs, rope etc, and fish attracting devices.

Sport Fishing Qualities

Dolphin are a marvelous sporting fish. They strike suddenly and run with tremendous speed. Once hooked provide spectacular aerobatics and fighting ability.
